The Porter County Expo was built in 1984 to serve the entire community all year around for a variety of events.  The Expo is owned by Porter County government and is a self-sustaining venue in that it does not rely on taxpayer dollars for day to day operations.

In 1984, Porter County government entered into a lease agreement with the Porter County Agricultural Society (Fair Board) to hold the annual Porter County Fair on our grounds. The Fair Board has invested millions of dollars over the years in our facilities, including construction of many of our buildings, along with annual maintenance and improvements.  CLICK HERE for more information about the Porter County Fair.

The Expo is operated by the Expo management and staff under the direction of the Porter County Board of Commissioners.  With over 80 acres, including 10 different buildings, horse arena, and grandstand, the Porter County Expo has a wide variety of multi-use facilities that can accommodate a diverse array of events which attract over a quarter million visitors annually.

The Expo is the longest operating event venue in Porter County.  In August of 2018, the Porter County Board of Commissioners began a nine month $3.5 million renovation of the Expo West and Expo East buildings, including a complete face lift of the buildings' interiors, replacement of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems, installation of new audio-visual equipment, restroom upgrades, addition of an outdoor patio at the Expo West building, and exterior painting and landscape improvements.

Because of the improvements, the beautiful NEW EXPERIENCE available at the Expo returns our venue to a top tier status for all types of events, including wedding receptions, fundraisers and special events, corporate events, as well as our traditional trade shows and artisan/craft fairs.
